Despite
of the weather forecast indicating heavy rain for today, the weather
was quite decent and there were even some sunny spots, so never trust a
weather forecast in these regions. Anyhow, after a breakfast digesting
the too many beers I had with Viktor last night I started to the
Thien-Mu Pagoda, which was started to be built in 1618 but mainly dates
from the 18th century. After this idyllic place I went over to visit the Forbidden City, where the kings were reign for about 100 years.
Major
parts of city were destroyed either by the French or by nature forces
and finally Vietkong was hiding inside the palace which made it a
target for the B52 bombers – all not to good preconditions for a
historical sight.
When I returned to the hotel on the street a man stopped me and said I look like an Austrian. Really, do I????
Well
the world is small actually his sister live in Vienna and he is going
there before Christmas – his other cousin is living in Vorarlberg – and
we discussed much more on a lunch before I caught the bus to Hoi An.
It is also on the bus where I am typing these words, since it even has WLAN on the road.
Staying connected is so easy in Asia.
On the bus I also meet the Kiwi guy, an guy from New Zealand, he is travelling for now 3 month and we share a room for the next days.
In Hoi An, although heavy rain was predicted sun was shining today, so I really hope this is going to be the same tomorrow.
This city is really cute, though heavy touristic – every shop is either a restaurant or a souvenir shop or both but idyllic.
Looking forward for the explorations tomorrow.
